Playing catch up with memories

I was watching Ella play the other night and listening to her jibber jabber and it dawned on me like a brick falling from heaven. “WAIT….Stop right there. I must engrain this in my over tired brain so that I can always remember you this way!” She is just so fun and it is truly amazing watching her grow. Although keeping up this blog is most of the time last thing on the to-do list of this working mom, I suddenly realized the importance of it. Maybe nobody will read every word, I may (or OK, WON’T) ever win a award for writing (heck, I am lucky if it is even grammatically correct!), but I pray that as my daughter grows it will be something that she will read knowing she is important to this family, she brings us joy, and she is growing in Christ! These moments are just too sweet not to savor.

So although I am not writing monthly updates anymore here are a few Ella facts to savor!

* She is FAST….the other day I ran up stairs for 2 seconds to grab something only to hear a small, quiet “HIiiiii” behind me! Eekkk. The stairs are now grated while Ella is awake!

* She has hair…light as ever but getting long enough to curl behind her ears (mommy’s favorite)

*She gives high fives (Daddy taught her that a month or so back)

*Her name for Bailey is “Gooooo” not sure where it came from but I clearly tell Bailey “go, or lets go” a little too much! If she hears her collar rattling in the other room she will yell “Gooooo”

*She has 2 chores. Feeding Bailey and putting her clothes in the hamper at night. She LOVES to feed Bailey. If I am not careful Bailey gets fed several times throughout the day, one piece of kibble at a time. Bailey loves our liberal ‘lil feeder. At night she puts her clothes in the hamper. She is so proud of herself! She gets so excited when she gets her “good job” high five!

*If you ask her where her nose is she points to her nose.

*She has count ‘em….10 teeth!! Teething this time around has been tough for all of us! Poor baby!

*She is in between size 12-18 month clothes.

*She is very opinionated about her menu choices. One day she will scarf down something the next day turn her nose up at it. The one constant is clementines and bananas. Even cheerios don’t always make the cut!

*She will pick up a framed picture of Pop Pop and say “papa”  and she made Grandpa’s day when she said “Ah-pa” for Grandpa while we were skyping. Don’t worry Nonnie and Grandma, those are easier syllables to say, your day is coming too! (at least that’s what everyone told me when DaDa was her first word!)

*She loves pretending to talk on the phone. She holds her empty hand to her ear and says “Hiiiii” like an over excited teenager!

*She points to her mouth now and says “more”. That would mean in layman’s terms: more food, more water, more…I want to hold your keys, or I want that toy, I want to play with that cell phone you put on the table (as she points to the table then her mouth with one little finger saying more and stretching on the tips of her toes to reach it)

*She LOVES music….I think it is her favorite thing. She plays her xylophone with great determination and will stops on the dime when she hears a song. We sing “Open, shut them, open shut them..give a little clap” Her face lights up as she opens and shuts her hands slowly with extreme concentration then claps like she is giving a standing ovation.
